Australian woman and daughter, 4, killed in Sri Lanka

An 37-year-old Australian woman and her four-year-old daughter have been killed in a car crash in Sri Lanka.

The pair were travelling with two other Australians when their van crashed into a truck parked on the side of the road near Nagoda, about two hours south of capital Colombo, local media reports on Thursday.

The four Australians and the driver of the container truck were injured and admitted to the Kalutara Nagoda Hospital, but the woman and her daughter died, Colombo Page said.

A spokesperson for the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade told Yahoo7 News they are providing consular assistance in relation to the death of two Australians and injury of two further Australians in a motor vehicle accident in Sri Lanka.
