Australian Museum gets $50m upgrade

The Australian Museum in Sydney will undergo a $50 million upgrade so it can host a massive Egyptian history exhibition about Tutankhamun.

NSW Arts Minister Don Harwin on Monday said the museum would be given the money in next week's budget prior to welcoming the blockbuster Tutankhamun: Treasures of the Golden Pharaoh exhibition in early 2021.

"We're projecting that there'll be 800,000 visitors alone going to this one exhibition which will have a six-month run," Mr Harwin told the ABC.
