A Brisbane woman and her young daughter who died when their van crashed into a parked truck in Sri Lanka, have been identified as 37-year old Louise Collins and her four-year-old daughter Poppy.
They are believed to have been living in Qatar, but were reportedly on holiday when the crash occurred.
“Words can’t begin to describe the loss our family is feeling. Everyone who knew Louise and Poppy where touched by their presence,” Ms Collins’s extended family said in a statement, The Australian reports.
“Poppy was an angel, her and Louise had an inseparable bond … Patrick and Freddy are in our prayers.”
The Australian reports that Ms Collins’s husband Patrick and their other young child were in the car at the time of the accident and were transported to hospital.
It is believed the truck, which was parked on the side of the road, had experienced engine failure and pulled over just prior to the accident, News Limited reports.
The crash happened near Nagoda, about two hours south of capital Colombo on Thursday.
