Australian man arrested after being found with drugs at airport in India

An Australian man has been arrested in India after he was allegedly caught trying to fly seven kilograms of amphetamines to Melbourne.

India’s Central Industrial Security Force confirmed on Sunday that Mohamed Umar Turay was taken into custody after he was allegedly caught with the drugs in his bag at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi.

A senior official confirmed Turay was due to board an Air India flight to Melbourne.

The drugs were allegedly found in a hidden compartment in his luggage, the AFP news agency has reported.

Yahoo News Australia has contacted The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade regarding his arrest.
