Teenage fast bowing sensation Naseem Shah has cruelly been denied his first Test wicket, after it was ruled to have been a no-ball.

The 16-year-old baited David Warner into a poor shot, which he edged through to wicketkeeper Muhammed Rizwan, in what looked to be a regulation nick.

Warner walked immediately, but replays gave the opener a reprieve - Shah stepped over the crease, dismissing Warner on a no-ball.

Adding salt to the wound was the fact that Rizwan was dismissed on a Pat Cummins no-ball on day one.

Replays looked to show Cummins’ foot slide beyond the crease, but the third umpire inexplicably ruled it a legal delivery.

The no-ball was a massive blow for Pakistan, who struggled to get a breakthrough in the first session as Warner (64*) and Joe Burns (52) were firmly entrenched in the middle.

It was later revealed Shah had bowled an additional two no-balls in the same over which had not been called by the umpires.

Former Australian Test batsman Michael Slater said it would be a brutal lesson for the youngster while on commentary for Channel 7.

“We were saying at the time that he needs to know he's overstepping. Therefore he was unable to know he was doing it and try to make an adjustment,” Slater said.

“He was well over and he has been on a number of occasions today. It's cost him.

“Gee, that hurts. It's a big let-off for Warner.”
