Aussie student discovers multi-million-dollar win during uni lecture

A university student has been left in shock after opening an email during a class informing her she has just become a multi-millionaire.

The 20-year-old South Australia woman who wishes to remain anonymous broke down in happy tears when The Lott confirmed she had won the division one prize of $20,000 a month for the next 20 years - or $4.8 million in total.

“You have no idea the year I have had. This is huge for my family! It changes everything for us,” she told The Lott on the phone.

“Holy moly. I can’t think!” she added.

The student from Glenelg said she didn’t think much of the email at first but when she logged onto The Lott website to check how much she had won she could barely keep still.

“I was shocked! But since I was in a lecture, I couldn’t really react. That was so hard because I just wanted to scream and jump up and down!” she said.

The woman said she couldn’t wait to share the winnings with her family.

“I will take everyone out for dinner tonight for celebrations!” she said.

“I can’t believe I have just won $20,000 a month for 20 years! It’s $4.8 million! I am a multi-millionaire!” she said.

The keen student said she plans to continue university but can’t wait to start planning a trip when borders open up again.

For the moment she plans to spoil her mother with a new home and will make sure she has one too.

“I would love to buy my mum a house and I’d love to get myself one too...my mum also needs a new car, so I will get her one as well,” she said.

“I mean, with that much money, what can’t I do?!”

Across the country, the South Australian winner held the only entry that won division one in Set for Life draw 1845 on Monday 24 August 2020.

The winning numbers in Set for Life draw 1845 were 6, 21, 3, 9, 25, 36 and 44, with the bonus numbers 27 and 40.
