Aussie newsreader blasts performer's no-show at daughter's sixth birthday

Two seasoned Australian journalists revealed a disappointing text conversation they had a with a children's entertainer about why she didn't show up to their six-year-old's birthday party.

7 News' morning presenter Jodie Speers took to Instagram to share the screenshot from Sunday, saying this was the "last time (she relies) on a party entertainer!!".

"Hi, just wondering where you are! Pearl’s party started at 2:30," the first message read on Ms Speers' Instastory, which was sent at 2.50pm.

The Sydney woman scribbled out the woman's name.

"Hi I am super sorry. I’ve broken dow(n) with my car this morning and had a really bad time," the entertainer replied.

Perplexed, Ms Speers asked "Why didn’t you message us to let us know you weren’t coming?"

To which the woman said "I’m sorry I didn’t think about it even".

The presenter expressed her disappointment with the situation, as there were "14 little girls waiting excitedly for 'Anna' from Frozen to turn up."

Meanwhile, Ms Speers husband and Pearls' father, Ben Fordham, also publicly complained about the incident on his 2GB show on Monday morning, asking the audience what they would do about the "no-show".

"Pearly loves Frozen so we decided we'd get one of those kids' entertainers, because when they're this age, they need a bit of direction sometimes," Mr Fordham said, adding that the company they used to hire 'Anna' described itself as a "premier kids party provider".

Having high hopes, he wasn't thrilled when "'Anna' didn’t even think of letting (them) know that she wasn’t showing up."

He too didn't disclose the woman's name, instead deciding to "let it go", in Frozen-spirit.

Ms Speers and Mr Fordham have been married since 2011 and have three children; Pearl, Freddy and Marigold.
