Aussie man records 'world's best marriage proposal', makes everyone else look bad

On behalf of every Australian man to ever lob a ring at his girlfriend with little more than a “what’d’ya reckon”, can we just say thanks Liam Cooper – you’ve made us all look absolutely terrible.

Liam is responsible for one of the most painstakingly planned and crafted, and brilliantly executed marriage proposals we have ever seen.

With the help of his friends and his soon-to-be father-in-law, Liam performed and filmed a music video covering the hit song Rude by Magic, and then organised a special screening Greater Union Cinemas in Shellharbour, New South Wales.

“When I decided I wanted to propose to my girlfriend Amy, I wanted it to be something pretty special and something she'd never see coming,” Liam wrote on his YouTube account alongside a video documenting the big day.

“I decided to make a music video to the song 'Rude' by Magic and screen it in a cinema after the trailers while we were on a seemingly normal date with her sister and brother-in-law.”

As far as Amy knew, she was on a regular date. Liam excused himself to go to the bathroom and promptly appeared on the screen.

Amy seemed to know what was coming when a suddenly immaculately dressed, but visibly nervous, Liam reappeared, took a knee and popped the question.

He then revealed that he’d secretly snuck a huge group of their friends into the cinema to witness the proposal.

If the grand production wasn’t enough, Liam somehow even managed to get a special message from the band that originally recorded the song for his fiancé.

“Amy, we heard that Liam has been working really, really had on this proposal so we hope you said yes,” the band said before strumming a few more licks of their hit tune.

So, did it work? We can’t give away any spoilers. The video is too good. You will have to watch for yourself.
