Aussie beautician tries to charge size 10 woman extra for a spray tan

A woman has shared screenshots she received from a beautician, claiming she would have to pay more for a spray tan because she’s an AU size 10-12.

The woman took to a Facebook group after she was so appalled by the beautician’s response.

The conversation, which has also been posted to Reddit, starts with the woman asking the spray tanner how much she charges, as she couldn’t see a price list anywhere on her Instagram account.

“Hey hun. It’s $35 for a 1 hour express. I just had a look at your profile and I’m just wondering what size you are?,” the beautician responses.

A bit baffled by the question, the woman responded telling the beautician she’s a size 10-12 and asked her why that matters.

“My regular clients are a max size 8. It’ll be $20 extra as there’s more surface area if you know what I mean,” the spray tanner said.

Obviously completely taken aback by the body shaming, the woman decided to take to a Facebook group to call out the beautician.

However, the beautician found out about it and decided to message the woman on Instagram again, giving her a word of ‘advice’.

“If you don’t want to pay a $20 surcharge maybe lose a little!. Not trying to be mean, it’s just the industry,” she wrote.

Redditors were quick to offer their support to the woman and slam the beautician for her messages.

“10-12 in AUS is like…a perfectly normal size. Not super skinny, not chubby. It’s normal. It’s nowhere near “you need to lose weight” or “your tan should cost extra” wtfffff,” one person commented.

“Definitely not the kind of person I’d want looking at my mostly naked/naked body to spray me! How judgmental is that?! “ another person said.
