As House of Gucci premieres, here's Lady Gaga's best-ever red carpet looks

It's fair to say that multi-award winning actress and singer Lady Gaga has become a stone-cold fashion icon. This week, she made a red carpet appearance for the premiere of her new movie, House of Gucci, and her look did not disappoint her legions of fans.

Her outfit was straight from the Gucci Love Parade, the dazzling fashion show that took place on Hollywood Boulevard last week. True to her usual revealing form, the dress was made from diaphanous silk chiffon, in Silk Cut purple, and showed her black fishnet stockings and black and gold sheer evening gloves.

Gaga accessorised with six-inch black platform button boots, and vast diamond earrings. Safe to say, she looked incredible.

Her role as Patrizia Reggiani, the murderous ex-wife of Maurizio Gucci (Adam Driver), is already creating Oscars buzz - though the clothes, classic Gucci looks from the 70s to the 90s, shine almost as brightly.

Lady Gaga isn't just connected to the venerable label though – her looks over the years have crossed the boundaries of avant-garde fashion, imagination – and even edibility, with her infamous 'meat dress.'

Here's some of her most fabulous – and eye-popping – red carpet looks.

1 The classic Hollywood

The dress and ice-blue satin coat were custom Schiaparelli, a label known for its dramatic and innovative style, and the jewellery was Chopard. Designed by Daniel Roseberry, the black velvet gown had a small train, and echoed the style of classic 50s Hollywood, an ongoing fascination for the star.

2 The Camp collection

Every year, the Met Gala showcases the cutting edge of fashion amongst the A list - and in 2019, the theme was 'Camp'.

Gaga bagged all the headlines with her looks – most notably this shocking pink parachute dress, designed Brandon Maxwell, which came off to reveal a more sober black dress – underneath which she wore black underwear, fishnet tights and, of course, platform boots.

In Christian Dior Couture, Lady Gaga went 'gothic angel' in this artfully frayed white silk gown which revealed both cleavage and legs – a fashion no, generally, but somehow, she pulled it off.

4. The endless train

2019 was a vintage year for Gaga fashion appearances, as she travelled the awards circuit. At the Golden Globes she wore periwinkle-blue Valentino satin, with her signature train, and Tiffany diamonds.

The vintage glamour look was enhanced by her silver hair, shaped into a perfect up-do. Clearly it was a lucky dress, as she won.

5 The shining star

Lady Gaga's star beamed even brighter with her award-winning role in A Star is Born – and for the premiere in LA, she blinged so hard she was probably visible from space.

In an homage to Barbra Streisand, who played Ali in an earlier version of the movie, she wore a Givenchy haute couture silver dress (with train, of course) that reflected a similar dress worn by Streisand in the role. Bulgari jewellery finished off the dazzle.

6 The Italian widow

For the Grammys in 2018, Gaga went full Sexy Italian Widow. She wore Armani Privé, featuring a full lace bodysuit, billowing skirt and train, with regal Game of Thrones- style platinum hair woven with black ribbon for the full Dragon Queen look.

7 The bulletproof dress

The dress worn by Gaga to Biden's Inauguration this year was another Schiaparelli designed by artistic director Roseberry.

“This is one of my favorite things I’ve ever worn,” Gaga said of the look, “I wore this Schiaparelli design for the inauguration, and nobody knows this, but this is a bulletproof dress.” The huge gold dove brooch, over her heart just added to the protection.

8 The meat dress

Back in 2010, when Gaga was just a huge singing star, she attended the MTV Video Music Awards wearing a dress and hat made from flank steak.

In typical Gaga style, it was a statement - she told Ellen DeGeneres: "If we don’t stand up for what we believe in and if we don’t fight for our rights, pretty soon we’re going to have as much rights as the meat on our bones."
