Arsenal are set to host Charlton Athletic in a friendly at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday afternoon, ahead of the Premier League and Championship restarts.

Addicks striker Lyle Taylor, who has controversially said he will not take part in the remainder of the season, confirmed the fixture on Instagram.

Taylor is due to be out of contract at the end of the season and does not want to risk picking up an injury that could deny him a major move as a free agent this summer.

Arsenal could still run into a similar situation with Brazilian defender David Luiz, whose current deal runs out at the end of the month, with the club yet to activate their option of a one-year extension.

Arsenal are one of the first Premier League teams due back in action, with their game in hand against Manchester City set for June 17. The Championship is planning to resume on June 20.

Mikel Arteta’s side still have ambitions of qualifying for the Champions League, particularly if Manchester City’s European ban is upheld, and are still in the FA Cup at the quarter-final stage.

Championship survival is the main aim for Lee Bowyer’s outfit, who currently sit 22nd in the division, two points from safety.
