Anya Taylor-Joy reveals gory alternate Furiosa ending

Anya Taylor-Joy has shared the gory ending to Furiosa we almost got.

She appears as the titular character in the latest Mad Max film, a prequel to 2015's Mad Max: Fury Road.

Set 15 to 20 years before the events of Fury Road, the film tells the origin story of Furiosa, first played by Charlize Theron, from her capture by warlord Dementus to learning the ways of road war as she strives to return to The Green Place.

Packed full of high-octane action sequences, Taylor-Joy has opened up on how bloody the ending to the film could have been.

In a new interview with BBC Radio 1, she shared that she had a gruesome souvenir from the Mad Max set – Chris Hemsworth's prosthetic tongue. It was from a scene that didn't make the final film in which Furiosa cuts Dementus's tongue out.

"George [Miller, the director] was kind to me, he shot it, it's not in the movie, but the prop department gave [something] to me to take home — and that is Chris's tongue," she said. "I've got Chris's prosthetic tongue in a box."

"I thought it'd be cool," she said, adding that they shot that scene for her. "And that was very sweet."

Anya received high praise from her co-star Chris when the film hit cinemas, as he lauded her unique take on the role.

"She turned up in the mindset and headspace with the enthusiasm and passion to craft something that wasn't a kind of mimic, but was her own take on the character," he told Digital Spy.

"The two characters are in both very different points of their life and very different parts, one is mythologised and one is in the building of it.

"Anya was just incredible. I don't think there are many people on the planet that can tell that amount of story with that amount of depth and nuance with the subtlety and a look," he added.

"She did an amazing job, made it her own. I really think in a beautiful way, the two performances complement each other so well."
