Another MetLife Stadium turf issue? 49ers tight end Jordan Reed goes back to locker room with injury

The San Francisco 49ers weren’t happy with the turf last week at MetLife Stadium, and then in a scheduling quirk they had to play another game there on Sunday.

And in the first quarter against the New York Giants, they suffered another injury.

Tight end Jordan Reed tried to drag his back foot inbounds at the back of the end zone, and immediately went down grabbing his leg. He walked off the field but went straight to the locker room with athletic trainers.

It’s hard to know if the turf had anything to do with the injury. The 49ers have griped that the Giants’ and Jets’ home field is not up to standard. The NFL said the field was safe this past week after San Francisco complained about it following injuries to players like defensive linemen Nick Bosa and Solomon Thomas and quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.

Presumably, the 49ers aren’t going to be any happier with the field conditions after another player went down.
