Households in Western Australia's South-West region will have improved power supply with the launch of the area's first community battery storage system.
The new utility-grade 464kWh Tesla battery in Busselton will help upgrade the electricity network.
It is the fifth community battery of this size to be installed in the state, as part of the WA government's Energy Transformation Strategy.
Energy Minister Bill Johnston says Busselton residents have embraced solar energy, with more than 4700 rooftops already featuring panels.
"In the past 10 years, there has been a six-fold increase of solar panels," he said on Friday.
"The Busselton community battery will also allow residents with solar panels to store excess solar power for use during peak times."
