Anglesey: Three people killed as car 'hits pedestrian and house' in North Wales seaside town
Three people have been killed in a road collision in Anglesey, police have confirmed.
A witness said the collision involved "a car hitting a pedestrian and then hitting a house".
North Wales Police say it responded to the incident in the town of Beaumaris shortly after 2.45pm on Wednesday.
Police attended Alma Street, close to Beaumaris Pier, along with ambulance and air ambulance crews.
The witness added: "It was just awful, the ambulance took ages to get here and when the police and the vehicles eventually came.. there was nothing they could do once they got here.
"[The vehicle] was so mangled. It's so mangled it's not true.
"Everybody really rallied around, diverting the traffic and trying their best to give the people dignity, but it was pretty horrific."
The town was filled with holidaymakers when the accident happened.
Officers say work is continuing to establish the full circumstances of the incident.
The public is urged to avoid the area around High Street, with police warning it will be closed for some time.
The town, which has a population of around 1,100, is on the east coast of the island off the North Wales coast.
Chief Inspector Caroline Mullen-Hurst said: "Sadly, we can confirm that three people have been fatally injured in the incident.
"We are appealing to anybody who witnessed the incident that hasn't already spoken to officers, or anybody who might have dashcam footage, to please get in touch."
The force says it will issue a further update in due course.
The island's MP, Llinos Medi, said the incident had "shaken" the community.
"Devastating news from Beaumaris. I am thinking of everyone who has been affected today," she said in a post on X.
"A heartfelt thank you to all the emergency services and volunteers who are responding to the emergency."
Plaid Cymru leader Rhun ap Iorwerth, who represents Ynys Mon in the Senedd, sent his condolences to those involved and their loved ones.
"I ask anyone who has any information to assist the police in their investigation to come forward," he added.
