Amy Schumer says she had her fillers dissolved because she 'looked like Maleficent'
Amy Schumer says her cosmetic touch-up was a turn-off.
On Sunday, the comedian, 40, admitted to fans that she'd recently "tried getting fillers," as in the cosmetic injectables that can plump up the face and smooth out wrinkles. While the procedure is intended to make a patient look younger, Schumer says that, in her case, the effect was more ... Disney.
"I looked like Maleficent," she wrote in an Instagram post sharing her experience, referencing the Sleeping Beauty villain played by Angelina Jolie in protruding prosthetic cheekbones.
Unhappy with her results, the Trainwreck star opted to have the fillers removed.
"Turns out I was already full. Thank God you can dissolve them," Schumer added, sharing a selfie of herself with cream on her cheekbones while in what appears to be a doctor's office.
Fans responded to Schumer's confession by urging her to stay natural.
"You are so beautiful!" wrote actress Isla Fisher. "No fillers needed."
"Please don't give in to the pressure of the acting industry," one poster wrote. "You're beautiful just the way you are. Age gracefully. There is no need for all this. You can be the voice for those that want to embrace their natural [selves]."
Schumer responded, "Thank you I will try!"
When another commenter told her "you don't need to do that to yourself," the comic wrote, "crazy how quickly I was talked into it!"
Schumer, who also recently posted about getting liposuction, went on to explain her motivation for trying the fillers in a response to another commenter.
"Something about this year," the mom of one wrote, citing turning 40 and undergoing surgery to remove her uterus and appendix to treat her endometriosis. "I want to feel the best I can about myself. It's a lifelong thing. I got lipo and had a great experience doing that. I used to be really judgmental about people getting work done. Now I'm like, do everything you can to love yourself exactly as you are but once you turn 40 and have a C-section do whatever the f*** will make you feel best!"
