Over 38 Million People Saw A Tweet About Donald Trump Losing His Appeal In The Sexual Abuse Case Brought By E. Jean Carroll, And They're Calling America "Embarrassing"

This post contains mention of sexual abuse. 

To understand what's happening, I have to take you back to 2023 when a jury found that Donald Trump sexually abused former magazine columnist E. Jean Carroll in 1996. Notably, he was not found liable for rape.

Then, in 2024, another jury examining a separate case awarded $83.3 million to Carroll — to be paid by Trump — following social media posts in which the president-elect is said to have defamed her.

Now we're caught up to today, when Trump's team attempted and failed to appeal the 2023 verdict.

News of Trump losing his appeal spread quickly online. One headline reading "Donald Trump loses appeal in sexual abuse case brought by victim E. Jean Carroll" amassed over 38.5 million views.

This marked many people's first time hearing about the case, and Trump's label as a sexual abuser.

So, as you can imagine, the failed appeal sparked a wide range of emotions. One person wrote, "the fucking PRESIDENT of the USA has to pay a woman 5 million dollars for SEXUALLY ABUSING HER! fuck this country and all that it is."

"Yet ppl will still defend and praise him," this person posed.

This sentiment was most common: "hot take: being a sexual abuser should immediately disqualify you from being the president of the united states."

Trump has denied attacking Carroll and will reportedly continue pursuing an appeal of the $83.3 million verdict.
