Amanda Abate

Amanda Abate is a senior network reporter and news anchor, having joined the Seven Network in 2009.

Amanda’s career has taken her from the Gold Coast, to Brisbane, Sydney, and Los Angeles - but she’s back home, in the city she grew up in.

After graduating from Griffith University in 2005, Amanda earned her stripes as a radio newsreader, before moving to Canberra and Lismore as a regional television reporter.

Amanda achieved her ‘dream job’ in 2009, as a Seven news reporter, and has since covered major news events around the country, and overseas; from floods and cyclones in Queensland - to the devastating bushfires in Tasmania - and William and Kate’s Royal Tour of New Zealand.

In 2014, Amanda briefly joined Seven’s Los Angeles bureau as a US Correspondent, covering international news and red carpet events, before moving to Sydney as a senior reporter.

Family, lifestyle and sunshine drew Amanda back to the Gold Coast, where she lives happily by the beach.

When she’s not working, you might find Amanda running on the sand, reading a good book, or exploring the outdoors.

As well as presenting 7 Gold Coast News each weekday, Amanda also fills in on Brisbane’s 4pm News desk, and reports from the Gold Coast, for Sunrise and Seven’s Nightly News at 6pm.
