'She always wanted to go': Teen fulfils grandmother's wish with touching act

A 17-year-old teenager has asked his grandmother to a school dance.

Kody Leonard, who lives in the US state of Idaho, uploaded video to his Facebook on February 28 of the moment his grandmother was asked to the April dance.

The teen wrote in the caption his grandmother, Sindy Gray, never went to prom “when she was younger and has always wanted to go”.

In the video, Kody surprises Ms Gray with flowers and a puzzle which features a photo of them together.

She flips it over to reveal the question asking her if she would like to go to prom with Kody and she starts getting tearful.

Ms Gray later responded to Kody’s “promposal” and said yes, gifting him with ties to wear to the dance.

“The way that she answered was by using a big red wooden chair and having a sign on it that said, ‘Kody’s in time out for making his grandma cry,’” Kody told Yahoo Lifestyle US.

“She was thinking of a creative way and said that she can put me in time out.”

The dance is on April 20 and Kody said he was planning to learn how to dance to one of his grandma’s favourite songs.

He was also getting his tuxedo organised to match her blue dress.

“My grandma has done so much for me and I wanted to do something back,” Kody said.

“The thing I am most excited about is sharing this experience with her.”
