A man has been arrested after a violent attempt to kidnap a teenage boy who was bashed in the face after answering the door of his Sydney home.
The 46-year-old was arrested on Monday in Homebush West following the January incident involving a 16-year-old boy in West Ryde, police said on Tuesday.
Police say the man forced his way into the home on Farnell Street about 9.30am on January 5 when the teenager opened the door. After a struggle, the boy broke free and ran to a neighbour's home.
The man has been refused bail to appear at Burwood Local Court on Tuesday where he faces charges of take/detain a person with the intent to obtain advantage and break and enter.
