Alison Hammond has revealed her recent interview with Lady Gaga started a bit awkwardly as she didn’t realise the singer was leaning in for a hug.

The presenter recently filmed a chat with the US chart-topper, which will be aired on This Morning.

A teaser clip of the moment the pair met was released on Friday (12 November) and shows Hammond sat in a chair as Lady Gaga walks in.

The singer then approaches Hammond with her arms outstretched but the TV star misreads the signal and gives Gaga an elbow bump.

However, Lady Gaga then leans in and puts her arms around Hammond and the excited presenter squeals: “Oh my God I got a hug!”

After the clip aired, Hammond turned to her This Morning co-host Dermot O'Leary and explained she didn't realise they would hug, because of COVID.

She said: “I was really shocked, because obviously we’d all been tested, and I didn’t know she was going to go in for a hug! I was giving her the elbow!

"I was giving her the elbow and she went straight in!"
