Aldi's online shopping 'trial'

First up is a Latex Mattress in a Box - Queen Size for $499 which will be on sale at the new site, shop.aldi.com.au, at 8.30am on Wednesday, May 26.

At 8.30am on Saturday, May 29, a French Door Fridge ($879) will also be available for purchase online.

The mattress features latex and memory foam layers for support and comfort and a removable and washable cover to keep it fresher for longer.

At 545 litres, the French door refrigerator boasts plenty of room as well as a dual cycle and cooling system and electronic controls.

Both the mattress and fridge are being released in line with Aldi's traditional in-store Special Buys range.

'Boutique Homes'

Aldi announced its first foray into online shopping on Tuesday and stressed that the online Special Buys were a 'limited trial' that will 'test a range of products' over the coming months.

As for what the future products are, we'll just have to wait and see.

"We are constantly looking for ways to improve the experience for our customers and are very excited to be taking our first steps into e-commerce," Aldi Australia group director of customer interactions Simon Padovani said.

"Our limited initial online offer allows us to set the foundations for our future program."
