A clever home cook has sent Aldi shoppers into a frenzy after discovering another use for the samosa maker featured in Aldi’s Special Buys last week.

Putting the infamous Kmart pie maker to shame, a woman shared her creation on the Kmart Pie Maker Recipes, Tips and Ideas Australia Facebook group, explaining her hack to make cake triangles in just six minutes using a regular box of cake mix.

“Makes 24 triangular vanilla cakes in six minutes,” she posted alongside photos of the final results. “Make mix as per box recipe. Pour batter over evenly and 24 perfect triangle delights.

“Yummy by themselves (especially straight out of Maker). I bling them up by dipping in melted margarine and then sugar/Cinnamon mix,” she concluded.

A samosa is generally fried or baked pastry with a savoury filling. The Indian treat may take different forms, including triangular, cone, or half-moon shapes, depending on the region.

Shoppers miss out on Aldi samosa maker

Inspired by her creation, social media users rushed to their closest supermarket to buy the appliance only to realise the popular item had been sold out at most stores as it was part of the Special Buys on Oct 2.

“Best gadget of 2019,” one fan wrote.

“I went to five Aldis and couldn't find it,” another disappointed shopper commented on the post.

“I wish they'd get enough stock in. Sold out in a couple of hours near me,” a third added.

Yahoo Lifestyle has contacted Aldi Australia to find out whether the product will be available again in the future.

Aldi Special Buys frenzy

Of course it’s not the first Aldi kitchen appliance that got fans excited.

Back in August, Aldi’s knockoff of a $2K Thermomix for just $299 had people queuing early. The Mistral Thermo Cooker was part of their Special Buys on September 7.

Later that same month, Aldi’s Caviar face cream Special Buy had people scrambling over one another to grab the famous beauty product.

The chaos saw it sell out in some stores in just three minutes.

“The Caviar cream always sells out within seconds,” popular Instagram account Aldi Lovers AU told Yahoo Lifestyle at the time.
