Aldi shopper's crafty hack wins praise: 'Massive life saver'
A hack for easily transporting Aldi groceries has won praise on social media, and has prompted shoppers from across Australia to share their own Aldi packing hacks.
Packing tips have long been a discussion point for Aldi customers, as the retailer is the only supermarket chain that has never offered single-use plastic bags.
A member of the Aldi Fans Australia Facebook group shared a photo of grocery items in laundry baskets, showing how the baskets can be moved directly from a shopping trolley to a car, without needing bags at any point.
The image sparked a discussion between Aldi customers, with many revealing similar methods of packing.
"I keep square flexible plastic tubs in my boot and throw one in the trolley when I go to Aldi. I carry the tub inside when I get home, and unpack straight into the pantry, fridge and freezer," one Facebook user said.
"I keep collapsible baskets in my car," wrote another.
"I pack my items into an Esky in the back of my car to keep my items cool," commented a third.
"I use 2 square plastic tubs, they fit perfectly into the trolley and are much easier to pack at the checkout... no double packing required. Much sturdier than the bags too!" added a fourth.
Other group members revealed that they also love using laundry baskets to haul their groceries, while others commended the original poster for sharing the hack.
"This is a massive life saver and time saver!" one group member said.

Aldi customers in the US have also taken to social media to share the laundry basket hack.
TikTok user @amywwaters posted a video of the laundry basket hack to her channel earlier this week, telling her followers:
"I put the laundry basket in my shopping cart, put all of my groceries in, put it in my trunk, and then I carry it straight into my house."
Fellow American TikToker @1980sgamer posted about using laundry baskets when transporting Aldi groceries last month, which attracted comments from TikTok users all over the world.
"This hack will change your life," he told his 1.6 million followers.
"See all these people wasting their time bagging their items? I just saved you a bunch of time with this hack."
Aldi introduces long-awaited in-store item
Aldi Australia has confirmed that shopping baskets will now be widely available in stores, in response to customer demand.
Following a trial of the baskets at selected New South Wales stores, the supermarket giant received enough positive feedback to make the change widespread.
Late last year, an Aldi spokesperson confirmed with Yahoo News that Aldi customers would start to see baskets in all stores in the early months of 2022.
"We recognise that Australians are looking for greater convenience when they visit our stores. To make it more efficient for our customers to do a smaller grocery shop, we will be introducing shopping baskets across all of our stores," the spokesperson said.
