Guess who’s vac, vac again? Aldi’s robotic vacuum - that’s who.

That’s right, Aldi is selling another robot vacuum cleaner in its 5 September Special Buys range. The Ecovacs Deebot OZMO 900 will be up for $399 - $100 more than two models offered in August and March last year. However, it’s still significantly cheaper than the $799 it’s listed for on Catch.com at time of publication.

It’s also cheaper than other robotic vacuum cleaners on the market, which range in price up to $1,700 for the top end models.

The vacuum sweeps, mops and vacuums floors with a Smart Navi 3.0 mapping system and has a virtual boundary function. The vacuum is compatible with smart home devices and uses max mode to boost suction power.

Worth it?

Choice analysis of the product said that while it had an “attractive” sale price, noting that this model usually goes for twice as much, shoppers should consider shopping around.

“In our product test, this Ecovacs model got a CHOICE Expert rating of just 39 per cent, making it the second lowest rating model in the current range. To borrow a line from Star Wars, this probably isn't the droid you're looking for,” Choice said.

“Although they're convenient, our testing has found robot vacs still have a decent way to go compared with more hands-on stick, barrel or upright vacs you use yourself. Most models generally get lower scores for carpet cleaning and picking up pet hair on carpeted floors.”

Choice said robot vacuums are generally best used for light cleaning.

But shoppers keen to give it a go had better be fast: the Ecovacs vacuums are known to sell out in mere minutes.
