Aldi will pull four large-sized items from all its Victorian stores over lockdown restrictions that prevent more than one person from leaving the house for necessary items.

The German supermarket giant will sell kitchen appliances, kitchen gadgets as well as food items for Oktoberfest as part of its Special Buys catalogue on Wednesday 9 September.

But Victorians will never have the chance to purchase a certain four items.

“To ensure that we are encouraging our customers to follow the Victorian State Government’s Stage 4 COVID-19 restrictions, that only one person per household can leave home to get necessary goods and services, we have removed some Special Buys products from our Victorian stores (plus Albury & Lavington stores) that require two people to safely lift and purchase the product,” the Aldi website states.

“This includes the advertised: Smart Wi-Fi 3L Thermo Cooker, the 16L Multifunction Air Fryer, the 14 Place Stainless Steel Dishwasher, [and the] Electric Oven 80L.”

Even though some stores in Victoria are not subject to the stage four restrictions, they will still be unavailable for those in the state.

“We apologise for any disappointment this might cause to our Victorian customers,” said Aldi.

“We understand that not all our Victorian stores are under Stage 4 restrictions, but we believe it is the right thing to do to ensure the safety of our community in this challenging time.

“We look forward to bringing these products back at a later date.”

The Special Buys catalogue for the day features items such as an 28mm aluminium frying pan, a grill plate, a pastry maker, and a food processor.

Tea towels, oven gloves, glass containers and jars, mixing bowls and a mini chopper will also be on sale on Wednesday 9 September.

Oktoberfest food items include pretzels, potato rostis, mustards, sauerkraut, German sausages, pastry biscuits and more.
