Incoming Prime Minister Anthony Albanese may have known about his election fate ahead of the country after he received an encouraging message in a fortune cookie.

2GB's Ben Fordham shared a video from back in February 2021 when he was dining at a Chinese restaurant with Mr Albanese, former Labor minister Graham Richardson, and former Liberal treasurer Joe Hockey.

In the video, the men can be seen cracking open their fortune cookies, with Fordham panning the camera to Mr Albanese and asking, "What have you got? Albo, this could be your future?"

Mr Richardson then reads his fortune, which said, "Don't be afraid to chase after your dreams".

Mr Albanese then laughs as he unwraps his cookie and jokes, "You'll s**t it in", which is slang for achieving something with little or no effort.

"Albo, give up now," Mr Hockey hilariously retorts as he pretends to read his own fortune cookie message.

The clip has emerged after Mr Albanese won the 2022 Federal Election, while Scott Morrison announced he would be stepping down as the leader of the Coalition.

Many Australians have expressed their delight with the result, with Australian activist and advocate for survivors of sexual assault Grace Tame tweeting a picture with Mr Albanese.

"A grateful nation is crying with you. And who said I didn’t smile at the Prime Minister?" she wrote, referencing a photo that recently went viral of a salty exchange with Mr Morrison at a morning tea for the 2022 Australian of the Year finalists.

Former Bachelor star and radio host Abbie Chatfield also posted on Instagram a photo farewelling Mr Morrison from the top job.

She can be seen watching Mr Morrison's election night speech in a club and giving a rude hand gesture to her phone.

"Bye babe!!!!!!! Hope you know everyone in this club was happy when I told them you lost," she wrote.
