Terrifying turbulence video shows air hostess thrown into ceiling

An air hostess has been filmed slamming into the ceiling during heavy turbulence on a passenger plane.

Passenger Mirjeta Basha captured the moment while on board an ALK AIrlines flight from Pristina in Kosovo to Basel in France on Sunday night.

Passengers are seated and a man puts a jumper on but suddenly the cabin is shaken by a jolt of turbulence.

A hostess serving refreshments is sent flying and hits the ceiling. The tray contents are thrown all over a row of passengers as people scream.

Ms Basha told Swedish news site 20 Minuten some people were scalded by hot water.

“People started screaming and crying,” she said.

“A flight attendant slammed her trolley on the ceiling.”

A spokeswoman for ALK Airlines told news site Badische Zietung confirmed turbulence was behind the incident.

“While the seatbelt sign was on, there was a slight drop in altitude due to expected turbulence and a strong downward impulse," she said.

Only minor injuries were reported.
