'Blood will be flowing': Eddie McGuire seethes over Collingwood player report

Collingwood president Eddie McGuire has fired up at suggestions Richmond will throw a juicy contract offer at Magpies defender Darcy Moore.

Channel Seven has reported Moore is Richmond's main target to fill that void and will make the 24-year-old a giant deal for what would be a controversial switch.

McGuire said he was unaware of the link, but cheekily responded with reminders of the bitter trade war between the fierce rivals during the 1980s.

Richmond were so incensed by Collingwood luring stars Geoff Raines and David Cloke following the 1982 season they started recruiting other Magpies players as revenge.

The tug-of-war almost bankrupted both clubs, leading to Richmond's Save Our Skins campaign in 1990 when they were on the verge of collapse.

"The last time they started poaching from Collingwood, we put them in the bin for 30 years," he said on Triple M on Tuesday.

"Wait if it ever comes true. The blood will be flowing down Punt Road and Hoddle St again.

"When his father (Peter Moore) went to Melbourne (in 1982), that went down a treat.

"'Darce' going to Richmond - that'd be just really good, wouldn't it?"

Manager denies Richmond talks

Moore's manager Liam Pickering also weighed in on the report, but denied any talks with Richmond about his client.

Pickering said talks with Collingwood remained ongoing.

"We caught up again the other week, but we've still got a bit of work do," Pickering said.

"We're negotiating, which means it's no way near over the line.

"I'm talking to Ned Guy (Collingwood's list manager) all the time, him and I have a fantastic relationship.

"There are a number of things they are trying to do at the moment."

Moore has played 71 games for Collingwood since making his debut in 2015.

After frequently switching ends early in his career, Moore starred in defence last year.

Big offers coming for Moore would put further salary cap pressure on Collingwood following ruckman Brodie Grundy recently signing a mammoth seven-year deal to stay with the Magpies.

Like Moore, star forward Jordan De Goey is also coming out-of-contract at season's end.

North Melbourne attempted to sign De Goey in 2018 with a five-year deal reportedly worth $5 million.
