Scott Morrison's brutal response to AFL grand final question
The location of the AFL grand final isn’t really one of Scott Morrison’s priorities at the moment.
And he made that perfectly clear after being asked about it at his press conference on Wednesday.
The Prime Minister was addressing the tough new lockdown measures in Victoria when a reporter asked Mr Morrison what it would mean for the fate of the AFL grand final.

But the PM made it abundantly clear that he has bigger fish to fry right now.
“To be honest, where the AFL grand final is being played at the moment is one of the furthest things from my mind,” Mr Morrison said. “It really is.
“The AFL I’m sure will sort that out and states and territories will sort that out.
“Right now we’re dealing with a pandemic outbreak in Victoria.”
All of Victoria’s AFL teams have been forced to relocate to interstate quarantine hubs so the AFL season can continue.
With strict new lockdown measures implemented across the state, the likelihood the grand final will be played at the traditional MCG is dwindling.
The MCG has a contract to host the season decider until 2057, but extenuating circumstances allow it to be relocated.
Perth, Brisbane or Sydney to host AFL grand final?
Former Hawthorn and Gold Coast star Campbell Brown said Brisbane and Perth should be the frontrunners.
“First and foremost, as has always been the case, health and safety will be the number one priority, and both those states seem to have coronavirus numbers and protocols under control,” Campbell wrote for Seven News.
“They have even already allowed supporters to attend games. That’s going to be the second key factor.
“The one thing that does make sense is that from a health, financial and fan engagement perspective a grand final interstate is a near certainty.”
Queensland Sports Minister Kate Jones has put forward her case to host it, as has West Australian Premier Mark McGowan.
“If the game can’t be held at the MCG, then clearly, Perth and Optus Stadium are the best location for the game and I would put that to the AFL,” Mr McGowan said.
“I really don’t want to get into a bidding war with Sydney or Brisbane, or Adelaide.
“Clearly, Perth is the biggest football state outside of Victoria, and our ground is the best.”
However AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan previously told The Daily Telegraph Sydney would be the most viable option.
