Aerial Footage Shows Lismore Swamped in Floodwater

The extent of flooding in Lismore, New South Wales, was dramatically evident in aerial video posted on Thursday, March 31, even as the Bureau of Meteorology said levels were beginning to recede.

On the same day, emergency services issued a plea for information about a woman last seen in floodwaters just south of Lismore.

Around 27,000 people remained affected by evacuation orders on Thursday due to the flooding, local media reported, although some residents were being allowed to return home. Around 6,000 homes remained without power.

Lismore’s flood levee overflowed earlier in the week for the second time in a month. Elsewhere, Byron Bay’s main street was under water and rain continued in Sydney after the city’s wettest-ever March. Credit: Angus Gray via Storyful
