Advisers appointed for submarine project

The federal government has appointed a four-person panel to oversee the process of selecting a contractor to build Australia's new submarine fleet.

Defence has limited the competitive evaluation process to three potential partners: the Japanese government, ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems GmbH (Germany) and DCNS (France).

Donald Winter, a former secretary of the United States Navy, former Federal Court judge Julie Anne Dodds-Streeton, infrastructure specialist Ron Finlay and Defence expert Jim McDowell form the advisory panel.
