Adelaide man quits dreaded job after $4.8 million Set for Life win
An Adelaide man who had dreamed spending more time fishing and less time working is ready to make his dream a reality after winning $4.8 million in Monday’s Set for Life draw.
The lucky winner, who hails from McLaren Vale in South Australia, held the only division one winning entry in Set for Life draw 2314, drawn Monday, December 6.
The Adelaide man took home the division one prize of $4.8 million, paid in instalments of $20,000 a month for 20 years.
When an official from The Lott broke the winning news to the man on Tuesday morning, he was oblivious to his multi-millionaire status.
“I had no idea! What the hell?!” he laughed.
“You’ve sent a cold shiver down my spine. I feel very weird right now.”
The winning man explained he had seen a person from Adelaide had won Set for Life over the weekend.
“I was reading their story this morning, and I thought ‘that lucky bastard!’. Turns out I’m a lucky bastard too!” laughed the man.
'I'm going to retire from work immediately'
The winner revealed he planned to retire from his dreaded job right away.
“I’m going to retire from work immediately. I haven’t enjoyed my job for the last year. It's been a real struggle to go to work, so I've been thinking of changing jobs,” he said.
“But, now I don’t have to work at all. It’s the best feeling! I can finish up and just relax and enjoy life instead. It’ll change everything for me. Woo-hoo!” he yelled.
The McLaren Vale man also plans to pay off his mortgage and spend more time camping and fishing.
The winning numbers in Set for Life draw 2314 were 6, 9, 8, 20, 41, 15 and 36, while the supplementary numbers were 40 and 18.
This marks the second Set for Life division one win to land in South Australia in the past two days.
More chances to win big
There are more chances to win big with tonight’s Oz Lotto offering $30 million, while Thursday’s Powerball has $3 million up for grabs.
The daily Set for Life draw offers players the chance to win a division one prize of $20,000 a month for 20 years.
The Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot prize is now $5.32 million for draw 1553 and the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot prize is now $4.92 million for draw 10509.
