Accused Melbourne CBD driver in court

A driver accused of mowing down pedestrians in the Melbourne CBD last December is set to undergo psychiatric assessment to see if he is fit to stand trial.

Saeed Noori, 33, is charged with one count of murder, 18 counts of attempted murder and one of reckless conduct endangering death after he allegedly drove into pedestrians on the corner of Flinders and Elizabeth streets on December 21.

In Melbourne Magistrates Court on Wednesday, Noori's case was adjourned until July 3 to allow time for a psychiatric report examining issues of mental impairment and fitness to stand trial.
