British man targeted by Aussie trolls after asking about mysterious marks on his foot

Seeking words of advice after five mysterious black dots appeared on his ankle following a swim in Australia, a British tourist has instead faced a barrage of comments taunting the foreigner.

Reddit user weejimcweejer took to the online forum on Thursday to share the image of his ankle after a dip in Australian waters.

"I'm a Brit, I went in the sea in your country and got stung or bit or something," he wrote.

But instead of offering medical advice, users were more concerned about the man's nationality.

One user jokingly referred to the man as a "dirty Brit" and asked: "Did you put those black marks there yourself or did you bring the [expletive] bubonic plague here?"

After responding to several comments, one user was quick to jump on the man's spelling.

"Aussies, not ozzies, you tea drinking heathen swine [sic]," he corrected.

The onslaught continued, with users telling him to pay for his medical treatment as the taxes of Australians shouldn't be used on him.

Some users were less brutal, but tried their best to strike fear into the wounded Brit by suggesting his injuries were a threat to his life.

"Have you...have you picked out your funeral songs?" one joked.

"Chop it off. It’s the only solution," another claimed.

But not all decided to troll the tourist, with several commenters suggesting the injury was from a sea urchin.

"Pull out any spike fragments remaining in your foot with tweezers and keep clean," one helpful user wrote.

"There'll probably be some minor localised infection around the wounds and be a little painful for a couple of days but you'll live."

Marine Biologist and sting specialist Lisa Gershwin told Yahoo7 News that the sting appeared to be from a sea urchin but said she couldn't 100 per cent "rule it in or rule it out" from viewing just an image.
