'My card just got declined at Maccas': Commbank customers left fuming after outage
Commonwealth Bank customers have been left fuming after the bank's mobile app and online banking shut down, meaning thousands were unable to access their money.
Problems arose from 8am on Wednesday when customers reported problems with using their cards and accessing Netbank. Some users abroad also reported issues using their travel cards.
The outage has escalated throughout the day with customers reportedly left without wages and unable to use their credit cards and loans while merchants have found a number of transactions have not gone through.
"You may not be able to make bill payments or see some of your accounts in the CommBank app, including Home Loan, Personal Loan, Credit Card and Travel Money Card accounts," read a message displayed on the bank's app.
Irate customers took to social media to vent their anger, with a series of scathing attacks slamming the bank for leaving them unable to pay for things for over 12 hours.
"My card was just declined at Maccas and I got plenty on it," one stranded fast food consumer tweeted.
"Pls fix. Have no money (sic)," another customer bluntly wrote.
"Wow... In the midst of a national outage you still have the ability to charge me a $10 overdrawing fee!" one complained.
A Commonwealth Bank spokesperson told Yahoo7 News at 9pm that the problem was ongoing and the bank were working to rectify the issue.

"We’re aware some customers may be experiencing intermittent issues with NetBank, CommBank app and CommBiz," the spokesperson said.
"We know that some merchant terminals are also impacted. For our customers impacted by this issue we are sorry, please be assured we are working on this as a matter of priority."
The app was still down at midnight Wednesday.
