Body of Perth woman, 25, found in Canadian lake four months after she disappeared

Police have located the body of a missing Perth woman who disappeared from a ski resort in Canada almost four months ago.

Alison Raspa, 25, hadn’t been seen since November when she left work at the Three Below Restaurant and Lounge in Whistler.

Members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police were called to Alpha Lake Park on Friday (local time) after a bystander found what appeared to be human remains at the north end of the partially-frozen lake.

They later confirmed the remains to be that of Ms Raspa.

It is believed Ms Raspa took a bus from the Whistler village to a highway stop, then walked about 200m to the park.

She was last heard from at about 1.15am on November 23 when she sent friends a text message to say she was lost.

Her phone was found about 6.30am that day at the same park where her body was discovered.

The cause of death has not been confirmed however police say it does not appear suspicious.

Rescue helicopters, fire department crews and divers were all used in the search for Ms Raspa but poor weather and fresh snowfall continued to hinder their initial efforts.

Ms Raspa's family had travelled to Canada and joined police in an extensive, week-long search for the young woman after her colleagues reported her missing.
