Airline's clever response to customer's poetic complaint

A Norwegian airline has come back with a brilliant response to a disgruntled but poetic customer's complaint about being charged an unexpected fee.

Norwegian Air passenger Gus Dolding wasn't happy about being charged an extra $188 to change the name on his flight ticket after an error had been made.

But instead of taking to Facebook to voice the usual torrent of abuse, he wrote a rather amusing poem.

Why can't you be fair
Norwegian Air
No headphone do you include
Nine hours with no free food

The stress of a sixty quid bag
Would make the plumpest of mammaries sag
Aviation scandals from Scandinavian vandals
You're a disgrace to the Norwegian flag

The Facebook poem goes on to tick off Kiwi.com for "helping these rogues" and the airline for the name change charge: "Just skip that amendment fee/And just let us change it for free."

After the 27-year-old musician's poem had been shared on Facebook, Norwegian Air took a different tack from the usual, standard customer complaint reply.

Firstly, they waived the fee, prompting a second, more appreciative poem from Mr Dolding.

Then, instead of writing a soulless generic apology, Norwegian Air decided to do as the Romans do and write their own response to the kerfuffle in poem form.

Dear Gus:
We understand all the fuzz
We try our best to reduce all the buzz
But fear not because
we do not throw anyone under the buss [sic]
especially not a person like you
since diamonds in the world are so few

The poem continues on with an apology for causing their customer any inconvenience and thanks him for the poem:

We thank you for your rhyme
We had a really great time
You thank us for being fair
We thank you for joining us up in the air

We wish you a great trip
With us the world is on your fingertip
Just be sure to follow the landing strip.

"Norwegian! Awesome," one person wrote underneath the poem, which was posted to Mr Dolding's Facebook page.

"An absolutely genius move by Norwegian! Well done!!," says another.

A few Facebook punters then decided to come up with their own poetry to express their amusement at the whole affair.

"It seems that Norwegian have come of their own, To alleviate heartache which prompted a tome," Bernard Shapiro wrote.

"And though negligence, apathy, greed and poor play, Have been brilliantly sent packing in poems today,

"Let's try to avoid those at Kiwi.com, Who've failed a poor traveller like Gus with aplomb."
