'Go for it son': Mum jailed after giving 11-year-old a bong to smoke
An Adelaide mother who gave her 11-year-old son a bong to smoke has been jailed for nine months.
Disturbing video of her encouraging the child to use the marijuana pipe surfaced on Facebook and went viral.
"Here we are recording [name omitted] having his very first bong,” the woman can be heard announcing as she records the boy holding the drug-smoking device.
“Go for it son,” she encourages.
The clip shows the boy lighting up the bong, before smoke wafts through the air.
The court heard on Tuesday the mother herself is still smoking the drug, and home detention was inappropriate.
She will be eligible for parole in November.
