WATCH: Skateboarder's surprise reaction to near miss after rushing onto busy road
The moment a Melbourne skateboarder was nearly mowed down as he hurtled across a busy street has been caught on camera.
Heart-stopping dashcam footage uploaded by Dash Cam Owners Australia to YouTube shows the male skateboarder leap from his board in sheer panic as an approaching vehicle is forced to slam on its brakes along Toorak Road, South Yarra, on January 22.
The boarder appears from behind a line of waiting traffic, oblivious to the approaching car which looks to pass through on a green light.
But as both parties come to a standstill following their close shave, not only does the skater stare down the driver, he then proceeds to pull out his phone and starts taking images of the car's licence plate.

The skateboarder's actions sparked a string of angry comments online, with many slamming his failure to own up to his apparent mistake and instead insinuate the driver was in the wrong.
"I almost get hit by car by crossing against the lights, now I'm going to assert my non existent rights by snapping a picture and complaining to the cops," one user wrote, imitating the skateboarder.
"Why did the old bloke looking like a 16 yo [sic] on a skateboard take a pic of the number plate? I don’t get it? the car had a green ," another comment read.
