After extensive analysis, the powder was later deemed to be harmless.

Officers from the Met’s Counter Terrorism command were reportedly called in on February 12 after the letter was sent to Kensington Palace, only a day before police discovered that a package containing white powder was sent to the Palace of Westminster.

Detectives are believed to be examining if the two incidents are linked.

The incident has reportedly put Scotland Yard on high alert ahead of the Royal Wedding in May.

Security for the day is believed to be under constant review to assess potential threats ahead of the royal couple tying the knot at Windsor Castle on Saturday, May 19.
