Man critical after shooting at tattoo shop following fight

Two gunmen are on the run after a shooting inside a tattoo shop in Melbourne's east on Thursday afternoon.

A man, believed to be aged in his 30s, was taken to hospital with life threatening injuries following reports of a shooting.

Police have confirmed to 7 News the man was shot inside Nitro Ink Tattoo Studio on Fordholm Road, Hampton Park, about 1.15pm, after a fight broke out.

Investigators believe the shooting was targeted.

The victim received "numerous and serious injuries to his upper body," Ambulance Victoria confirmed.

He has been taken to The Alfred Hospital for treatment.

Police are searching for the shooters who fled the scene, with officers speaking to witnesses.

Officers from Taskforce Echo which targets outlaw motorcycle gangs are investigating along with the Armed Crime Squad.

Investigators located a burnt out vehicle at nearby Robjant Street, in the same suburb but it has not yet been confirmed this is the same vehicle the offender fled in.
