Man caught stealing pot plant - but owner reveals thief is in for a surprise
A brazen pot plant theft in broad daylight, which was caught on a home security system, has left the residents baffled.
In the video shared to Facebook, a man can be seen casually walking up the driveway of a New Zealand property, before approaching the entryway and taking off with the blooms.
Throughout the clip the bold man seems confident and does not appear to flinch or even turn around to see if anyone had noticed him.
However, the Auckland homeowner has revealed the alleged thief might be disappointed when he takes a closer look at his prize.
"It was totally a fake plastic plant," Jonathan Ackerman told the New Zealand Herald.
"Because it's in an area that doesn't get any rain nothing would survive there so if he was thinking of repotting it and selling it, then the joke is on him because it's plastic."
Mr Ackerman explained it is still irritating even though the item is not worth much.
"What annoys me is someone thinks they can come onto your property and get away with it," he told the publication.
Mr Ackerman was not home at the time of the incident, however he was notified about the unusual behaviour by his security system and logged on to view the footage.
He then called his wife who reportedly tried to stop the man from escaping.
The alleged theft left a large portion of the online community shocked, saying the man has "some nerve".
"Just parks his car, door wide open, not too worried about being caught, some people clearly don’t live in reality," one wrote.
Another said: "Security cameras are great but they need to have a loud siren to scare off the intruders and thieves."

Others suggested maybe the man had been looking for a last minute gift.
"Forgot his wife's birthday? the nerve people have these days , can't even have a plant in your own yard."
