Boy, 10, rescues little sister taken from school by stranger
A brave 10-year-old boy has been praised for acting quickly to chase down a man he didn’t recognise, who took his little sister from school.
The big brother noticed an elderly man grab his six-year-old sister’s hand and lead her from the school grounds last Wednesday afternoon.
He quickly acted to follow them from the Public School 189 in Brooklyn, New York, until they reached a property about five minutes away, New York’s WPIX reported.
When the brother caught up with the pair, he immediately grabbed his sister and the man, aged in his 90s, released the girl, the NYPD said.
The siblings ran off to a nearby relative’s home and the incident was reported to police.
Initially, the incident was reported as a kidnapping by a man in his 50s from a school building, but NYPD officials later amended their alert stating the man, actually in his 90s, accidentally collected the wrong child from the school.
Neither child was injured during the incident and no charges were laid.
