Cruise ship forced to return after 'alcohol-fuelled' fight breaks out

There's been high tempers on the high seas with a P&O Cruise ship forced to return to Sydney early after a wild brawl broke out on board.

Water Police removed the passengers involved.

It's believed alcohol played a big part with some passengers now calling for drinks to be restricted.

The ship had to return to Sydney, docking at Bradley Head on Sunday afternoon, so Water Police could escort the group from the ship.

Six men were allowed to walk free, pending inquiries. One woman was cuffed and taken into custody.

The group of men were later seen drinking at a Balmain pub.

The woman remains at Balmain Police station helping police work out what led to the brawl and how one passenger ended up with cuts to his head after allegedly being hit with a bottle.

Witnesses told 7 News the brawl broke out during a bucks party and have slammed the free-flow of alcohol on board the ship.

Pacific Explorer had been on a three-night round trip cruise from Sydney.

Police met the ship inside the harbour to conduct the transfer of the group.

"The group removed today will no longer be welcome to travel with P&O Cruises or any of its associated brands," a P&O spokesperson said.
