Man arrested after 'smacking stranger's child' in supermarket queue
A man has been arrested for allegedly smacking a stranger's child in a line at a grocery store in the US state of Georgia.
Juan Guvarra Martinez, 62, allegedly grabbed the toddler's arm and smacked him while under the influence of alcohol, THV 11 CBS reports.
The boy's father told police Martinez was intoxicated and spanked his two-year-old at the self-checkout line.
Fox 5 News identified the boy's father as Logan Morris.
Mr Morris said his boy is well behaved and was just asking for "a piece of candy". He alleges Martinez told him, "that's how we do it in Mexico," after hitting the boy three times.
He added Martinez then tried to buy his son lollies. Mr Morris declined the offer.
When asked why he spanked the child, Martinez told police the toddler was "doing something with a candy bar".

Police said Martinez's speech was slurred, and he smelled of alcohol. It's further alleged once he got into the car he began kicking the doors and windows.
He was taken to hospital after his arrest.
Martinez has been charged with battery, disorderly conduct, and obstruction of officers.
