A man has been seriously injured after he was run over by a tram on the Gold Coast.
Queensland Police were called to the Gold Coast Highway on Friday about 5am following reports the man had been sleeping on the tram tracks. He was trapped under a tram for about 45 minutes.
It also took paramedics some time to stabilise him before he was transported to hospital.
The man was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious but stable condition after suffering lower limb injuries.
The accident suspended Translink services, which have since resumed between Southport and Surfers Paradise North stations.

People can expect residual delays of up to 30 minutes.
It's not known why the man was on the tracks.
