Restaurant offers $4,000 Valentine's Day burger complete with romantic surprise

A US restaurant is offering a unique way for diners to propose this Valentine's Day with a bizarre culinary creation.

With February 14 just around the corner, Boston restaurant Pauli's has created a special burger dish, priced at $3,835, complete with a diamond engagement ring.

Named the Big Boy Burger, the 7/8 carat Neil Lane ring, set in a 14-carat gold band surrounded by a diamond frame, is baked into the burger's bun and is served with a side of fries.

"Thought it would be fun to do a burger proposal," restaurant owner Paul Barker told US television station WCVB.

"It's one of our most popular burgers - it's a quarter pound pure ground beef, American cheese, bacon, barbecue sauce and then its topped with onion rings."

He did say he was yet to receive any orders for the expensive meal but revealed there were plenty of people “very interested”.

"[It's for] someone who's looking for something different, something fun.

"I'd suggest taking the ring off before eating the burger."

The culinary surprise is only available on Valentine's Day and any eager punters wanting to pop the question must pre-order the burger 48 hours before the day.
