Plane with 85 plumbers on board turns around after toilet trouble

Toilet trouble on board an aircraft has forced a Norwegian flight to turn around despite 85 plumbers being on board.

Flight DY1156 left Oslo Gardermoen heading to Munich on January 27, but the plane only managed to reach the Swedish border before it had to return to the airport due to problems with the toilets on board, The Independent reported.

“It is true that DY1156, which was to fly from Oslo to Munich, had to return to Oslo again when they found an issue with the toilets on board,” Norwegian communications advisor Fatima Elkadi told Norwegian news site Dagbladet.

Despite 85 plumbers from Rørkjøp plumbing company being on board the flight, their abundant expertise ended up going to waste.

“We would have liked to fix the restrooms, but unfortunately it had to be done from the outside and we didn’t risk sending a plumber to work at 10,000m,” Rørkjøp CEO Frank Olsen said.

“There was a good atmosphere in the plane, what with the irony about the broken toilets.”

Technicians at Gardermoen managed to fix the issue and the plane took off once more, landing in Munich at around 12pm.
