Woman dies after being run over by her own car - as daughter watches in horror
A single mother who came to Australia as a refugee from Africa has died after being run over by her own car in Perth.
The tragic accident unfolded in front of the woman's teenage daughter outside their Dianella home.
It's a freak accident that's left a mother dead and her daughter orphaned.
Mhret Teklehaimanot came to Australia as a refugee from Eritrea five years ago.
On Thursday afternoon, she and her 17-year-old daughter Rim had just returned from a school interview.
The teenager was moving a bin on the driveway as her mother adjusted her parking.
Police say the 41-year-old got out of the car and it began to move backwards.
When she tried to stop it, she was knocked to the ground and dragged under the car as it hit a wall.
"She was trying to give her [daughter] a good life," friend Tafere Berhane said.
"All the time, working day and night really diligently, and she has been well-liked.
"This accident unfolded just before her daughter. She couldn't believe it and we are all shocked by this thing."

A neighbour and a worker from across the street rushed to help after hearing the crash and screams, but there was little they could do.
On Friday, dozens of members of Perth's Eritrean community paid their respects and offered support to Mhret's daughter Rim.
"All the community will do everything we can to support Rim, to give her the chance of education that she was looking actively for," Tafere Berhane said.
Major Crash investigators want to speak to anyone who saw the crash on Grand Promenade or the hatchback just before the accident.
